After the Quake: Rebuilding and Reformation in Haiti

By Pastor Martin Hawley, Board of Directors, Reformation Hope, Inc.

On the pure Gospel front, I am delighted to report that Pastor Jean Paul (orphanage director) is now providing water from the new well to 4,000 Haitians in need from the neighborhood. On a new wall with the water faucet is John 7:37. And so as the Haitians receive their physical water each day, they are faced with the fact that only Jesus provides the true 'living water'!

RHI is focusing upon raising funds to rebuild the school and, for the first time, a church building. The combined cost will be $145,000. We have located an agriculture equipment dealer in the Midwest who has packaged two tractors for us and all the implements we need for the agriculture project, plus shipping to Haiti. We need $30,000 to do that and begin farming the 70 acres of land which have been given to RHI. Very exciting what God is doing. So far, we have about $90,000 raised of the total $175,000 we need to make both of these projects a reality!  Jean and the people in Haiti are very touched by everyone's letters and cards, prayers, and of course giving!  Have a blessed day in the Lord our Redeemer!

Friday 1/22/10  Report from Haiti: Miracles in the Middle of Tragedy.    Please Help ReformationHope.org
by John Paul, Director, Reformation Hope (Orphanage and Christian School, Port-au-Prince Haiti)

The property at Souls Winning Ministries is filled to capacity with people.  The good news is 1500 people have come to Christ which included 23 voodoo priests.  However the needs are overwhelming.  They urgently need funds for the following things; $5,000 for food, $2,000 for medicine, $2,000 for construction preparation and cleanup.  We are in the process through RHI (Reformation Hope International) to get the funds into Jean Paul's hands. JIn spite of the death and desolation all around him, Jean Paul is strong and determined in his faith in to rebuild and move forward in seeing the Kingdom of God established in Haiti.  We need to continue to pray and support Jean Paul and his church for the long-haul.  RHI has plans to rebuild the building- $115,000, dig a well-$10,000, and complete the agricultural project- $75,000.

The agricultural project (farming 70 acres) will provide food for the orphans and others, employment and income, teaching the Haitians to be self-sufficient entrepreneurs.  This project wll include an irrigation system, two tractors with implements, seed and plants.  At some point in time the emergency aid relief will discontinue and Haiti will have to begin to stand on its own.  Our commitment to Jean Paul and Souls Winning ministries is not a "flash in the pan" but a long term commitment to see the ministry to become strong, healthy, and vibrant reaching Haiti with the Gospel of Jesus Christ. We need your prayers and help to make this happen.

"I shall not die, I shall live to declare the works and the wonders of my God." Greetings to you all the saints and servants of the living God, I am writing to you to let you know that my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ , The One that knows how to save perfectly saved us from that big quake. All of our 56 children at the orphanage and 11 of our employees are alive and unhurt. God gave us life because He wants us to continue to worship Him.  Praise the Lord for all the He has done and is doing in Haiti!

We have already sent 231 bodies of our church members to the mass grave.  They are now in heaven forever!  Six members are missing. still Three-fourths of the homes, businesses, and churches in or near Port-au-Prince are destroyed. We had three buildings - two of them survived with limited damage.  The third building - the newest and largest - was destroyed.

We had a great service on Sunday outside from 9:00 until 2:00 pm. We want to rebuild the education building as soon as possible.. We call on every church, everyone to help us. Our immediate needs today are food, water, blankets, cooking supplies, and plastic sheet for shelter.  Pray for our ministry team, that they will have much strength to comfort and to encourage those who have suffered loss of family or of home, and in many cases loss of hope since the earthquake.

Please continue to pray, and also pray that the relief organization LeSea, which has a Feed the Hungry division, will follow through on its promise to set-up a distribution site at our ministry compound for food, water, and medical supplies.

We love you all. Do everything you can to help us recover from this so we can bring back hope to the people of God. We love you all. In His work.

Please continue to pray, and also pray that the relief organization LeSea, which has a Feed the Hungry division, will follow through on its promise to set-up a distribution site at our ministry compound for food, water, and medical supplies.
